BrakePlus is an Electronic Braking Performance Monitoring System (EBPMS), a system that enables you to monitor the braking performance of the trailers in your fleet. The system captures braking event data from a trailer's electronic braking system and calculates a Braking Performance Value (BPV). The Braking Performance Value can be presented in a Braking Performance Report, which can be produced alongside every safety inspection record and used as evidence for an operator's preventative maintenance system.
An EBPMS may be used as a means of assessing a trailer’s braking performance, overcoming the cost and inconvenience of arranging and performing regular physical roller brake tests, over and above that performed at the annual test. Furthermore, BrakePlus can help improve the overall safety of a trailer and reduce downtime and its associated costs by enabling the monitoring of service brake performance.
The Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) outlines best practices for the maintenance of commercial vehicles in their publication 'Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness' which states that every safety inspection must assess the braking performance of a trailer.
With BrakePlus, simply view a list of trailers in your fleet with the latest calculated Braking Performance Value. Select a trailer to view further details regarding its braking performance. Periodically produce a PDF Braking Performance Report as part of a trailer's safety inspection report.
The system will also alert you in case of under-performing service brakes by means of an email notification. In the event you should have any trailers in your fleet with under-performing service brakes, take appropriate action to have the brakes inspected and possibly remedied.
In order to achieve a ‘Pass’, the Braking Performance Value should be 45% or greater.
